Back to School Means Back to Work!
Back to School is just around the corner, and while students are getting ready to return to their fall routine, PALS is preparing to return to work! We will be holding our first meeting of the new year on October 18th. We would love to have anyone who is interested in volunteering to help out the Children's Department or anyone who isn't sure PALS is for you but would like to find our more to attend. If you are a long-time member who has been contemplating becoming a board member, this is also the meeting for you! Stay tuned for more details on our fall meeting.
Summer Reading Finale Party!
It's hard to believe that summer is almost over, and school will be in session in a few short weeks. Summer Reading will also be wrapping up at the Library in the Forest but not before throwing the biggest party of the summer. Join us at the Vestavia Hills Parks and Recreation Gym at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center on July 28th at 6 p.m. for a finale that is sure to be a hit. Roger Day will be there to help us celebrate a successful summer of reading. "One World, Many Stories" has been an exciting theme and what better way to close out the summer than with a concert by Roger Day! We hope to see you there but not before you register to attend. "PALS in the Pines" Silent Auction
PALS of the Vestavia Hills Library in the Forest and Mark Yanosky Orthodontics present “PALS in the Pines” Silent Auction. Enjoy a night out for a good cause. Join us on Thursday, May 12th from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at the Vestavia Hills Public Library as we raise money for the Children’s Department. Not only will there be jazz, wine, and hors d’oeuvres provided by Café Iz, International Wines, and the UAB Honors Jazz Combo, there will also be great items up for auction. You’ll have the opportunity to bid on items from your favorite local establishments, including spa packages, must-have tickets to local sporting events, and gift certificates to the best local eateries.
Tickets are $20 per person in advance or $25 per person at the door. Tickets may be purchased by visiting www.librarypals.org. Extra parking will be available at Wald Park, and shuttles will be provided to and from the library parking lot.

PALS Kicks Off the New Year
The new year always promises exciting new possibilities, and that is certainly true for PALS. After a great turnout at our New Member Meeting on Tuesday, January 11th, we are excited about everything on schedule for the new year.
Thanks to the planning and hard work of Ms. Amanda and her staff this year's lineup of special guests and entertainers is the perfect way to kick off the first year in the new library. Expect to see acts like Farmer Jason and Roger Day. PALS plays a vital role in helping to bring acts like those to the Children's Department, and we still need your help in doing so. If you are interested in joining PALS, it's not too late. Just visit the Membership tab at the top of the page and stay tuned to the web site for announcements about meeting times.
Also if you attended the January meeting and were interested in joining a committee, you can click on the About PALS tab, scroll down to Committees and email the chairwoman for that committee. Also, don't forget to solicit businesses for donations for this year's Silent Auction. The deadline for all solicitations is April 12th. Silent Auction Success
A special thank you to everyone who helped make PALS on the Porch such a success. We had great food, great items, and a great turnout. PALS would like to thank all of our sponsors who provided such fantastic bid items, and we'd like to extend a special thank you to sponsors Sarver and Yanosky Orthodontics. PALS also expresses gratitude to Vestavia Hills Parks and Recreation for allowing us to use the Lodge at Wald Park. What a beautiful job our volunteers did in transforming the room into an enchanting auction site.
